Prism Health North Texas (PHNTX) will crown the 19th Miss LifeWalk at the annual Miss LifeWalk pageant from 5:30-9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 at Station 4 at 3911 Cedar Springs Road. 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Miss LifeWalk pageant, founded as a counterpart to the annual LifeWalk fundraiser that has raised millions of dollars since its inception in 1991. While this year marks the 20th anniversary of the first pageant, the 19th queen will be crowned this year as two pageants were forgone in 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pageant now serves as a standalone event organized to raise funds for PHNTX’s mission to promote the health equity of North Texas communities through education, prevention, research and affirming personalized care.
The 19th Miss LifeWalk pageant will be hosted by former Miss LifeWalks Bea Dazzle and Betty SiSonnet.
Once crowned, Miss LifeWalk becomes an ambassador for PHNTX, promoting safe sex, regular STI testing, knowing one’s HIV status, and encouraging those eligible to pursue PrEP medications. Miss LifeWalk uses her platform to raise funds and acts as an advocate for North Texans who are uninsured or under-insured, especially those living with HIV.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Miss LifeWalk pageant, which has become a cornerstone of annual LifeWalk fundraising efforts,” said Kim Burgan, Chief Marketing and Development Officer for Prism Health North Texas. “This milestone reflects both our ongoing commitment to supporting equitable health access in North Texas and the vibrant spirit of our community.”
Competing queens will each perform a number and give remarks on their efforts to raise funds for LifeWalk over the past year and in future years. Performing queens include several previous Miss LifeWalk winners. Tickets to the Miss LifeWalk pageant may be purchased at LifeWalk.org or at the door of the event. Standing general admission tickets are available for $20, seated general admission tickets are available for $50 and include two drink tickets, and VIP tickets are available for $100 including two drink tickets, access to a designated VIP bar and to the pre-show VIP & Sponsors reception.
In addition to advocating for better sexual health for North Texans, the winner of the Miss LifeWalk 2024 competition will receive a $1,000 cash prize. The first runner up will receive a $500 prize, and the second runner up will receive a $250 prize. Winners of the Miss Congeniality and Best Talent crowns will receive $50 each.
“I have been raising money for Prism Health North Texas through LifeWalk for more than a decade,” said Aunt Marge, Miss LifeWalk 2023. “Winning Miss LifeWalk has meant the world to me as it has afforded me the opportunity to share love, laughter, and joy while supporting out community and the great mission of PHNTX!”
