PHNTX will crown the 17th Miss LifeWalk at the Miss LifeWalk Pageant from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 at Station 4’s beloved Rose Room at 3911 Cedar Springs Road. The Pageant will also serve as the closing ceremony for the 32nd annual LifeWalk, an annual fundraising event organized to raise funds for Prism Health North Texas’ mission to advance the health of North Texans through education, research, prevention, and personalized HIV care.
The event will conclude the “Summer of LifeWalk,” a change from the traditional format of a 5K walk through the Uptown and Oak Lawn neighborhoods to a series of free events that took place throughout the summer in an effort to increase community involvement and visibility of Prism Health North Texas.
“The shift in format has made this a successful and rewarding LifeWalk,” PHNTX Events Manager Terry Walker said. “We kicked off the Summer of LifeWalk with the Marketpalooza and Pub Crawl on the Cedar Springs Strip, followed by brunch with Pride Vodka at Roy G’s and the extremely successful 7th annual Team Clover Open hosted by long-time LifeWalk team Team Clover. Team Clover recruited 51 teams to play putt putt and enjoy a silent auction in the name of Prism Health North Texas.”
In addition to awarding the title of Miss LifeWalk, the top LifeWalk fundraiser of 2022 will be named along with recognition of the top 10 individual fundraisers and top three fundraising teams. The annual Heart & Hands Award will be bestowed to 2020, 2021, and 2022 winners, honoring those who have presented outstanding dedication to LifeWalk and Prism Health North Texas and a Special LifeWalk Participant Recognition will also be awarded to one participant who has produced impressive fundraising results year after year.
Competing queens will each perform a number and give remarks on their efforts to raise funds for LifeWalk in 2022 and in future years. Performing queens include several previous Miss LifeWalk winners. Tickets to the Miss LifeWalk pageant may be purchased at lifewalk.org. General admission tickets purchased in advance are $20 while tickets available at the door are $25. VIP tickets may be purchased for $30.
“We look forward to closing this year’s Summer of LifeWalk with one of our favorite events, the Miss LifeWalk Pageant,” Walker added. “Two years have flown by since the 16th Miss LifeWalk, Miss Polly von Ackocker, was crowned and we look forward to the fierce competition and wonderful performances from local drag queens competing for the title.”
The 17th Miss LifeWalk Pageant will be hosted by Heather Thomas, Miss LifeWalk 2012, Bea Dazzle, Miss Lifewalk 2018, and Mark Thibodeau, LifeWalk Co-Chair. Judges deciding the 2022 Miss LifeWalk winner include Linze Serell, Layla Larue, Lotta Pink, Eric Saldana, and Part-Time Justin, host of the Kidd Kraddick Show.
