The Clover Classic Chronicle: 2025’s Putt-Putt Pub Crawl for Good
Published: 08-27-2025 | 4 MIN READ | Author: Andie Carver
This summer, Cedar Springs Merchant Association (CSMA) revitalized a putt-putt pub crawl previously run by superstar Terry Bax in the Dallas gayborhood called Team Clover Open. More than fun, the long-standing event was also a fundraiser for Prism Health North Texas (PHNTX). The event last took place in 2022, and the Cedar Springs strip has missed its putters since then.
This year, CSMA gave Team Clover Open a makeover and a new name: Clover Classic! After a three-year hiatus, the event brought in twenty-five teams and metaphorically crowned winners at the end of the night:
- First Place (with $1,000 cash prize)
- Second Place (with $200 cash prize)
- Third Place (with bragging rights!)
- Best Dressed (voted by applause)
- Best Sportsmanship (or Miss Congeniality)
- Best Hole (voted by the players)
Thanks to CSMA, Cedar Springs, and all the players, Clover Classic 2025 raised over $6,000 for PHNTX, enabling North Texans to get the healthcare they need, regardless of their ability to pay.
If you couldn’t come to the event, here’s what you missed.
The Clover Classic 2025 Holes
On Saturday, August 16, 2025, the four-player teams gathered at the tournament starting point, the Round-Up Saloon. The route would meander down the strip, with Dallas Woody’s as the mid-point and Sue Ellen’s as the closer. CSMA and its volunteers guided the teams up and down Cedar Springs to various bars and businesses to play the fourteen putt-putt holes that each establishment handmade.

The Round-Up Saloon hosted the first two holes in the tournament, one with barnyard animals guarding the hole and the other with a labyrinth that sometimes veered players’ balls off-course.

Package Dallas put together a Peanuts hole, using one of their mannequins to create a weirdly hot Charlie Brown. This hole took four to six putts to complete on average.

Alexandre’s took players down a conspiracy theory “rabbit” hole.

JR’s themed their hole after Madonna, complete with soundtrack.

Station 4 created a Pokémon-themed hole with a difficult-to-clear chasm.

A second hole, created by PHNTX, was stationed at S4.

Dallas Woody’s hosted an elaborate Jurassic Park-themed hole upstairs, with person-size cardboard cutouts of your favorite dinosaurs (and some you’ve never heard of but are real!). An employee dressed as Dr. Alan Grant with the “Clever Girl” velociraptor perched on his arm.

Sue Ellen’s hosted the last hole, turning chest-icular endowment into obstacles.
Not pictured but still very much worth mentioning: Salon Aura used what they had on-hand to make their course: monochromatic (and fancy-looking!) shampoo bottles. Pandacorn had, of course, a panda-shaped course, where the panda’s tongue blocked many a hole-in-one. TMC tricked players by creating a tunnel that seemed to go straight to the hole, but players’ balls got stuck in a subtle dip in the darkness. As you might imagine, Cheat Code Lounge made a hole so difficult that people bought mulligans (which you can do in a fundraiser!) left and right. Hunky’s displayed their hole outdoors, and offered players a free hotdog along the way!
We’re grateful to all participating businesses for building such creative putt-putt holes and helping make this event possible.
The Clover Classic 2025 ‘Fits
The best part of Clover Classic is the themed outfits. Teams immediately understood the assignment by coming up with raunchy and pseudo-golf-punned names with uniforms to match.

Pictured from top to bottom and left to right: Putts, Slutts, and Butts (one team!), Putt Slutz (with a Z!), Homo La Flor, Balls Deep, Bunker Besties, Putt Pirates, Big Swingers, (Who is she?? We love a mushroom moment! Someone help us identify this Cinderella!), Mudd Putts, and Team Britney.
There were so many more incredible teams that we didn’t capture. Every team took having fun seriously, and we’re grateful for the spirit each one brought to the event!
The Clover Classic 2025 Winners
The award ceremony was held at Sue Ellen’s and hosted by Shantae Morgan, PHNTX’s Miss LifeWalk 2024. Shantae used this moment to “live out [her] country club fantasy, honey.”

Can we have a moment for the dress?
Another dashing drag queen took the stage to lip-sync serenade the audience: Nova Gina! Her performance was both stunning and hilarious.
Once all eyes were on the stage, Shantae announced the winners.
Drum roll, please!
Best Sportsmanship
The Putt Pirates were the most spirited woo-girls by far. They were loud and proud, in and out of their pirate costumes. Beyond that, they offered encouragement and tips to their opponents, even serving as hole-in-one celeb shots for some.
Best Dressed
All the teams worked hard on their looks, but no one werked the dance floor harder than the Bunker Besties.

Since the award was granted by audience applause, they won by a landslide.
Best Hole
Dallas Woody’s has a history of winning best hole at Team Clover Open, so Shantae thought she would have some fun by psyching them out. But they did actually win, and they deserved to! The detail in their presentation was unparalleled.
First, Second, and Third Places
At the end of the night, three teams were called to the stage: the Bushwhackers, the Clever Girls, and Team Britney.
Bushwhackers was given third place! (One of their players actually plays real golf and brought their own driver from home!)
That left Team Britney and the Clever Girls standing, but…it was a tie!
To settle the score, the teams had to appoint one player in a putt-off.
The Clever Girls went first. It took their player four putts to make the hole.
Team Britney’s player stepped up and got a HOLE IN ONE.
The crowd went crazy. Audience members thrust their fists into the air. People lost their voices from screaming.
