Celebrating Recovery Together: September Is National Recovery Month

September is National Recovery Month, a time to shine a light on healing, resilience, and the communities that help us grow stronger every day. At Prism Health North Texas (PHNTX), we are proud to support recovery through free peer coaching, support groups, and community events.

Why Recovery Month Matters

Recovery is about more than stopping substance use. It is about finding balance, support, and hope for the future. This month is a reminder that recovery is possible for everyone, and that connection makes the journey easier.

Support Groups Available This September

At PHNTX Recovery Support Services, we offer groups that meet weekly to encourage healing and personal growth:

  • SMART Recovery Oak Cliff – Mondays, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
A skills-focused group that teaches science-based tools for building motivation, managing cravings, and living a balanced life. Instead of following traditional 12-step methods, SMART Recovery uses proven techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help people understand and change their behaviors, set personal goals, and handle tough situations.
  • Narcotics Anonymous (New Dawn at Sunset) – Tuesdays, 12 to 1 p.m. (beginning September 9)
A fellowship-style support group based on the 12-step model, where people come together to share their experiences and support each other in recovery from drug addiction. This group puts a strong emphasis on discussion, peer encouragement, and the belief in helping each other stay drug-free, often with a spiritual or higher power element.
  • RISE Recovery – Wednesdays, 4 to 5 p.m.
A group focused on building life skills like confidence, stress management, and creating a supportive community. RISE Recovery is practical and holistic, offering guidance for day-to-day challenges in recovery with activities and peer support to help people set healthy routines and reach their personal recovery goals.

All groups are held at our Empowerment Center, right next to our Oak Cliff Health Center, at 219 Sunset Ave, Ste. 116-B, Dallas, TX 75208.
